Pros:

• Upwork is one of the only freelancing websites that actually provides a filter for US based contractors; and they rigorously verify this.
• I feel secure using it.
• It's an easy to use program.
• It provides access to talent across the globe -- location is no longer an issue.
• The feedback/rating system helps with choosing the right candidate.
• Allows us to filter freelancers by location. This is especially important when working across time zones.
• Huge candidate pool. You're almost guaranteed to find a few individuals who specialize in whatever you're looking for.
• Allows both fixed bid and hourly. Each one is useful for different kinds of projects.

Cons:

• They could offer better pricing for small companies.
• Change the way they handle company accounts (who are offering services), it's somewhat confusing

Freelancer is another good option for freelancing jobs. It is the second largest Freelance Website. There are various categories of jobs available on Freelancer.

As a freelance writer, especially working 100% online, delivering to customers is exceptionally challenging. Even 10 years into the game, having my own website and social media presence isn't enough to grow in competition. Freelance hubs, like Freelancer, make it easier to earn exposure, post a profile, and find customers and orders. That being said, it is a somewhat common website and hasn't been my primary source of customers or plans.

However on Freelancer, a lot of features are paid. The skills test which is free on Upwork is paid here. On the positive side it ensures that only serious freelancers takes such tests, yet it would have been if they kept it free and make some eligibility criteria for taking such tests

Jobs are in abundance, though Jobs monitoring is not as good as Upwork. You could often see freelancers wrongly posting their skills in jobs section and a lot of other freelancers bidding for it without even realizing that it was posted in wrong section. This shows how the unprofessional people have flooded the website.

Still, Freelancer is a decent option for searching freelance Jobs.

• Freelancer gives you a way to hire freelancers within minutes.

• It offers you secure payments using their milestone payments, which make you safe as a freelancer or employer.

I used Guru to reach more clients when I was completing extra freelance work. Clients would post work as they required help with and freelancers would bid on the tasks. There is a learning curve involved before one would start getting freelancing jobs, but I noticed it to be an excellent tool to join with new clients.

Guru is particularly effective with a small company, where everyone has distinct responsibilities. If one member is out, anyone can explore through Guru cards in order to perform their job. It has proven to be a highly useful tool for learning and experiencing extensive knowledge around internal groups and departments.
